In order to accommodate a wide range of products, we have optimized our 360 studio at the request of our customer Amazon. This includes new light fixtures that can be moved anywhere on the working surface. To help with high volume workflows we also added a height- adjustable turntable that ensures an ergonomic workspace for photographers of any height.
After placing the product with the help of virtual guides in the live view, you scan your product number (or enter it manually) and start the process.
The motorized turntable and daylight balanced LEDs with a (95+) colour rendering index are controlled by Picture Instruments Serial Shot, which works on Windows and Mac OS.
While the system is capturing images and transferring them to the computer, you can view the results of the removed background in real time. Once all the preset heights and angles have been photographed and the backrounds removed, you complete the process. Automatic post-processing and uploading will then begin while you start on your next product.
At each of these steps, the photographer has the ability to make changes and adjustments. This includes lighting presets for different color products, background removal options for transparent products and output options for video and interactive 360. Standard corrections such as color corrections and camera calibration can be configured in the software. Several tools from basic to advanced are also available to improve the mask. If you also want to retouch your images, we recommend using our connected retouching service.
The speed depends on many factors, such as resolution, camera used, number of images, etc. A 360° rotation with 12 images, background removal plus an additional top viewwith background removal, can be completed in 60 seconds with the 360° Compact Studio, for example. Further automated post-processing of the images and uploading then runs in the background while the next object is photographed.
Our 360° Compact Studio has 3 advantages over our less advanced solutions. Even in the age of AI, the backlight method is still the reference for automatic Background removal. If you want to automatically remove the background of the finest details and semi-transparencies in a high resolution, our 360° Compact Studio is the best choice. Even if the costs per AI background removal are very low, it pays to use the backlighting method for background removal above a certain volume. Of course, the costs must always be calculated individually, but to give a rough guideline, we would say that our 360° Compact Studio is worthwhile compared to our 360° AI Studio from approx. 2000 products with 12 shots, per year. The third advantage is that no image has to leave the local computer for automatic background removal using this method. Even though our servers for AI background removal are located in Germany and North America, and the images are only stored there for a few seconds for the actual background removal process, some companies have very strict guidelines in this regard The 360 Compact Studio is an ideal fit when data security is a priority. If the costs for a 360° Compact Studio are too high, we recommend a Picture Instruments 360° AI Studio.
